We are tremendously proud of our Pre-Assessment Clinic (PAC) which is run by a close-knit team of highly experienced and dedicated nurse specialists in combination with sub-speciality focussed anaesthetists.
Following chart review by our team, high-risk patients are triaged to the clinic, undergo a full assessment by medical staff, and then optimised with fast track referrals to other specialities as required
We are also proud to run an anaesthetist-led echocardiography service providing comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms to high risk patients with support and oversight provided by Middlemore cardiology. The unique relationship between our two departements has been consolidated by dedicated transthoracic echo fellowships and ASCeXAM completion by 2 anaesthetic staff specialists.
With extensive opportunities to learn, improve patient care and fast-track surgical pathways, our PAC is staffed daily by rotational local trainees, staff specialists and led by our experienced nurses.
