Maternity services

Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) offers a range of maternity services including pregnancy education classes (antenatal classes), antenatal care, maternity outpatients, birthing facilities and postnatal care.

You are encouraged to book with a midwife/lead maternity carer (LMC) as soon as you know you are pregnant.  Maternity care in New Zealand is funded by the government for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents and those who meet the Ministry of Health eligibility criteria.

Primary Maternity care is provided in Counties Manukau by a range of Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs), GPs, Midwives or Specialists, who are self- employed (funded directly from the Ministry of Health) and also by community based and birthing facility based Midwives employed by CM Health.
