Counties Manukau Health welcomes $80 million investment

Jacinda Media release

Media release 21 November 2018 | Counties Manukau Health has welcomed today’s Government announcement of an $80 million investment for capital works at Middlemore Hospital and the Manukau SuperClinic.

Vui Mark Gosche, Chair of Counties Manukau DHB, says the investment is a significant step in Counties Manukau Health’s ability to fix critical infrastructure problems.

The funding means Counties Manukau Health will be able to focus on business cases for four projects, namely recladding the Kidz First Building, relocating the radiology department to the Harley Gray Building, establishing a radiology hub at the Manukau SuperClinic site, and critical infrastructure work at the Manukau SuperClinic.

“The issues that Counties Manukau Health faces are well known so I want to thank the Government for their support as we prioritise our very large work programme,” Mr Gosche says.

“Our community is growing fast, we are youthful while also rapidly ageing, and we are ethnically diverse.  This diversity creates opportunities but also some challenges as we grow our capacity to keep up with demand.”

“Today’s announcement means we will be able to significantly improve our key facilities, thereby ensuring we are can provide our people with the quality healthcare they deserve.”
