Counties Manukau Health welcomes Budget 2018, in particular the allocation of $750 million of new capital to DHBs for urgent building problems, improved access to healthcare for children through the extension of free visits to GPs to under-14-year-olds, and reduced cost of GP visits for those on modest incomes who are eligible for the Community Services Card.
Chair of CMDHB, Vui Mark Gosche, says additional operational funding to help keep up with demand and additional deficit support, will help DHBs as they struggle to meet the growing and changing health needs and demands of their communities.
“In Counties Manukau, which has the highest number of people living in areas of high socio economic deprivation and, as a result, high rates of ill health, the initiatives announced by the Government will not only have a significant impact on the lives of people in our community, but also help the DHB to make much needed improvements to infrastructure.
“We look forward to working with the Government to progress business cases outlining what is required to better deliver services that improve the health of our communities.”
